Bitdefender is a Romanian cybersecurity company headquartered in Bucharest, founded in 2001 by Florin and Mariuca Talpes. It develops antivirus, EDR, XDR, and managed detection-and-response products used by hundreds of millions of consumers and businesses. Bitdefender engines also power several OEM security products. It consistently ranks at or near the top in AV-Test, AV-Comparatives, and SE Labs evaluations and remains independent and privately held.
