Infomaniak Mail
Email Switzerland
Swiss email with a free 20 GB mailbox, encryption and no advertising. Alternative to Gmail.
Details
Infomaniak Mail is the email service of Infomaniak Network SA in Geneva, used through webmail, the Infomaniak Mail apps for iOS and Android, or any IMAP and SMTP client. Calendar and contacts sync to the same devices, and encryption is built in. Infomaniak’s terms say customer data is stored only in Switzerland, in data centres the company owns.
The free my kSuite plan gives one address at @ik.me, @etik.com or @ikmail.com with 20 GB of mail storage and 15 GB on kDrive, which is more mail space than Gmail’s pooled 15 GB. It is offered in a listed set of countries, most of Europe among them, and sign-up needs a phone number from one of them. my kSuite+ from CHF 1.60 a month removes the mail storage cap; an address on your own domain needs the separate Mail Service, from CHF 2.29 a month.
Infomaniak states that it shows no advertising and does not finance its free services by selling personal data. The trade-offs against Gmail are a single free address with limited features, and a far smaller ecosystem of add-ons and connected apps.
