Shopware AG is a German e-commerce software company founded in 2000 by Stefan and Sebastian Hamann in Schöppingen. Its Shopware 6 platform is an open-source (MIT-licensed) PHP/Symfony commerce stack widely used by European mid-market and enterprise merchants. The Hamann brothers remain co-CEOs and significant shareholders; PayPal holds a 41% minority stake (acquired from Carlyle in October 2025).
