XWiki
Notes and Workspaces France
Open-source enterprise wiki with structured data and EU hosting. Alternative to Confluence.
Details
XWiki is the flagship open-source enterprise wiki from Paris-based XWiki SAS. It pairs free-form pages with structured data via XClasses, scripting macros, fine-grained access rights, and an extension marketplace. Used by engineering, product, and knowledge teams as a Confluence alternative, self-hostable on premises or in EU cloud, and integrated with OpenProject under the openDesk programme for German public-sector sovereignty.

It develops XWiki — a structured enterprise wiki used as a Confluence alternative — and CryptPad, an end-to-end encrypted realtime suite. In March 2026 XWiki announced a partnership with OpenProject under Germany’s openDesk sovereignty initiative.
