European alternatives to Google Drive

Google Drive is the storage layer of Google Workspace, and for most people it is inseparable from Docs, Sheets and Slides — those files live in Drive and have no meaningful existence outside it. Storage is pooled with Gmail and Google Photos across a single quota, starting at 15 GB free.

That bundling is what makes Drive hard to replace in isolation. Moving the files is straightforward; moving the documents means either exporting them to Office or ODF formats, which loses comments and revision history, or adopting a replacement office suite at the same time. Readers comparing alternatives should decide first whether they are replacing the drive, the documents, or both — the catalog treats them as separate categories for that reason.
