Linearity Curve
Vector Illustration Germany
Vector design app for Mac and iPad with CMYK and print export. Alternative to Adobe Illustrator.
Details
Curve is Linearity’s vector illustration application, built in Germany and sold for Apple hardware only. It covers the drawing work Illustrator is bought for: a Bezier pen with independent control handles, pressure-sensitive vector brushes, auto-trace, type-to-outlines, boolean path operations, and an Apple Pencil-optimised canvas on iPad. For output it supports CMYK colour and exports press-ready PDF alongside SVG and EPS.
Interchange is the part that decides whether a tool can be used professionally, and Curve imports and exports against Figma, Illustrator and Sketch files. Assets come through integrations rather than an in-house library: Unsplash for stock photography, Icons8 for vector icons, Brandfetch for company brand assets, and Apple’s SF Symbols.
There is a free tier — Curve and Move with usage limits, one brand, 5 GB of storage, and 2,400 AI credits valid for seven days. Pro at USD 10 a month, or USD 8 billed annually, is the first tier with unlimited use of both applications and advanced export; the plans above it sell AI credits, storage and governance rather than drawing features.
The hard limit is the platform. Curve runs on macOS Big Sur and later, iPadOS 14 and later, and iPhone. “Windows” appears nowhere on its product or pricing pages, and the App Store listing records macOS, iPhone and iPad as the only supported devices. A studio on PCs cannot use it, whatever the feature list says.
About Linearity
Linearity GmbH is registered at Prinzenstraße 2a, 42697 Solingen, under HRB 79971 at the Amtsgericht Düsseldorf, with German governing law and jurisdiction in Berlin. The company was founded as Vectornator and renamed Linearity in 2023. Its investors — EQT Ventures, HV Capital and 468 Capital — are all European, and no holding company sits above the GmbH in its binding documents.
It sells two desktop applications. Curve is the vector illustration tool: Bezier drawing, pressure-sensitive vector brushes, auto-trace, type-to-outlines, CMYK colour and print-ready PDF, SVG and EPS export, with import and export against Figma, Illustrator and Sketch files. Move is the motion and animation companion. Both run on macOS, iPad and iPhone only; “Windows” appears nowhere on the product pages as a supported platform.
Pricing is USD 10 a month, or USD 8 billed annually, with a credit allowance attached to each tier for the AI features. Asset sourcing comes through integrations rather than an in-house library — Unsplash for photography, Icons8 for vector icons, Brandfetch for company brand assets, and Apple’s SF Symbols.
