DxO PhotoLab
RAW Photo Editing France
RAW editor with lab-measured lens fixes and AI noise reduction. Alternative to Adobe Lightroom.
Details
DxO PhotoLab is a desktop RAW developer for Windows and macOS, published by DxO Labs in Boulogne-Billancourt.
What sets it apart is DxO Modules: correction profiles built from laboratory measurements of specific camera and lens pairs, which fix distortion, vignetting, chromatic aberration and lens softness automatically rather than from a generic formula. It pairs these with DeepPRIME XD3 machine-learning noise reduction. Local work is done with AI Masks that select skies, faces and subjects, and with U Point control points; edits are non-destructive, with virtual copies and a full history palette.
Licences are perpetual rather than subscription: EUR 249.99 for PhotoLab 10 Elite and EUR 159.99 for Essential, with upgrades from EUR 84.99. There is no free tier, only a 30-day trial.
The limits are structural and the vendor states them itself. DxO markets the product as catalog-free and expects you to browse folders rather than import a library, so there is no database behind your images. There is no tethered shooting, no mobile app and no cloud sync.
About DxO
DxO Labs is a French imaging-science company founded in 2003 and based at 3 rue Nationale, Boulogne-Billancourt, SIREN 444 777 577, with 50 to 99 employees.
Its EULA names DxO Labs as the contracting party, is governed by the laws of France, and vests exclusive jurisdiction in the Paris courts; the privacy policy names the same French entity as data controller. The register records it as a plain SAS rather than a SASU, and founder Jerome Meniere is the sole president and only natural-person officer, so no holding company sits above it.
The company builds its products on laboratory measurements of specific camera and lens combinations. Alongside PhotoLab it publishes PureRAW, FilmPack, ViewPoint and the Nik Collection.
