Sinch Messaging
Programmable Messaging Sweden
Messaging APIs for SMS, RCS, and WhatsApp on its own carrier routes. Alternative to Twilio Messaging.
Details
Sinch Messaging is the programmable-messaging half of Sinch: REST APIs for SMS and MMS, a Conversation API that fans one message out across RCS, WhatsApp, Messenger and SMS, a Verification API for one-time passcodes, and Business Phone Numbers for the sender identities underneath. Voice and in-app calling SDKs sit alongside it, so the same account covers both channels.
The distinguishing asset is the network rather than the API. Sinch owns tier-1 carrier interconnects outright — including Inteliquent in the US — instead of reselling aggregator routes, which is what gives it direct operator reach in Europe and comparable deliverability to Twilio.
Pricing is pay-as-you-go for SMS, Voice and RCS with a free-start signup, though published per-country rates sit behind a quote rather than on an open price table. The gaps against Twilio are ecosystem rather than capability: fewer official SDKs, a thinner documentation and community surface, and nothing equivalent to Twilio’s Segment and Flex layers.
About Sinch
Sinch AB (publ) is a Stockholm-headquartered cloud communications group listed on Nasdaq Stockholm, employing over 4,000 people across more than 60 countries. It grew out of CLX Communications and expanded by acquisition — Inteliquent, Pathwire/Mailgun, Mailjet, SimpleTexting and ClickSend all sit beneath the Swedish parent as subsidiaries.
Ownership is Swedish and dispersed. The largest shareholder is Neqst D2 AB at 21.7%, followed by the Fourth Swedish National Pension Fund at 9.0%, Swedbank Robur at 6.3%, Alecta at 3.9% and Handelsbanken Funds at 3.5%. The largest identified US holders are the passive index managers Vanguard (3.0%) and Dimensional (2.3%). There is no controlling shareholder, and the company files no US domestic-issuer reports — it is listed in Stockholm only.
The General Terms and Conditions set governing law by customer domicile, with a residual clause pointing to the country of incorporation of the contracting Sinch entity. US law applies only to US-domiciled customers, so a European customer contracts under European law.
