Upsun

Platform as a Service France

French PaaS with per-branch environments cloned from production Alternative to Heroku.

Details

Upsun is the Platform-as-a-Service built by Platform.sh SAS, rebranded from Platform.sh in September 2025. Applications deploy by Git push or through a GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket integration that creates an environment for every branch or pull request and deletes it on merge. The distinguishing detail is that a preview environment clones the parent’s data as well as its code, so a review app runs against a real dataset rather than an empty database.

Runtimes cover PHP, Node.js, Python, Ruby, Java, Go, .NET, Elixir and Rust, with first-party PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis and Valkey, MongoDB, Kafka, RabbitMQ, OpenSearch, ClickHouse and Solr. Containers scale horizontally and autoscale on CPU and memory, managed from a CLI. There is no free tier: after a 15-day trial, billing starts at EUR 9 per project and EUR 10 per user each month before any compute. Every project is described by a hand-written configuration file, and seven regions cover the EU, Switzerland and the UK.

About Platform.sh

Platform.sh SAS is a French company founded in 2010 and registered in Paris under RCS B 521 496 059, with co-founder Frédéric Plais as président and statutory auditors appointed. The French register carries Upsun as its trade name. The group’s impressum states that it operates through wholly owned subsidiaries, listing Platform.sh, Inc. of Michigan among them — the French SAS is the parent, not the other way round.

The company rebranded its flagship platform from Platform.sh to Upsun in September 2025; platform.sh now redirects to upsun.com and one set of terms covers both. Its terms make the French SAS the residual contracting entity, with named-country carve-outs including a California-law clause that applies only to United States billing.
